When Ocean Sleeper release Peace When I’m Dead on August 21st, fans will hear the end result of months of writing, travelling and refining every last detail.
Before that day arrives, Ocean Sleeper is giving our readers an exclusive look behind the curtain, from writing sessions in Los Angeles to finishing touches in Portland and Melbourne, the band’s latest album was shaped across three cities, multiple studios and their biggest international adventure to date.

Ocean Sleeper’s In Studio Diary
August 2025, we left cold Victoria for 8 weeks to spend in USA touring and recording.
We spent the first week in Los Angeles in the studio with Jon Lundin & later Curt Martin, writing final songs for what would end up to be Peace When I’m Dead.
At the time we were independent, about to start our first international tour which was a headline tour across the USA and had an album to finish. So much excitement around all this made everything so much better.
The final show of the tour was in Portland Oregon where the next part of our album journey began. We had 2 weeks in Portland with Jeff Dunne to keep working on the album. We finished the album in Melbourne at our guitarist Ionei Heckenberg’s studio for Jeff Dunne to Mix & Master everything.
The road to Peace When I’m Dead didn’t begin or end in one studio, it crossed continents, followed Ocean Sleeper through their first US headline tour and ultimately came together between Los Angeles, Portland and Melbourne.

The album arrives on August 21st after an impressive run of singles including ‘Break The Cycle’, the title track ‘Peace When I’m Dead’ and most recently ‘My Forever Drug’ (below), the latter was co-written with Jon Lundin and Curt Martin during the band’s US trip, with the song reportedly completed in just six hours.

Australian tour
Fresh from their first UK and European headline run, Ocean Sleeper will celebrate the album’s release with their biggest Australian headline tour to date this September, Brisbane has already sold out, with Sydney, Perth, Adelaide and a hometown Forum Melbourne show still on the schedule.
