Tour Diaries With Bakers Eddy

Share

Fresh off their I’m Doing Better tour, Bakers Eddy share an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour diary with Blunt Mag.

Bakers Eddy: I think now in the social media era, with trying to come up with new ways to connect with an audience over a TikTok, it’s so blatantly clear to us that our connection to our people is fostered by one hour on stage, in a room full of people giving their absolute all for us to give it right back. That’s what’s been so special about this tour. After some rebuilding, and doing the normal routine roll out ‘across all platforms’ it’s been so so fun to be out there again on our own again connecting with our people the best way we know how.

We had just picked up the new batch of merch that Jamie designed for the tour. It’s the best merch this band has made, so we made sure to lay it out as if we were pulling up at a carboot sale to deal and wheel.

Couldn’t do a tour diary without mentioning Kira, who made the whole run with us, finally. We tried this years ago but couldn’t complete the run cause Covid messed it up. It was a beautiful thing getting this completed.

One major difference since our last headline run is the amount of Bakers [Eddy] tattoos in the audience. It’s still a wild feeling.

Here’s a new one being etched into existence, courtesy of Jamie.

Hongi is the sharing of life’s essence and it’s become a way for us to ground ourselves and connect before we go out on stage.

We pulled over at this small dirty patch of snow on the way to Jindabyne. We hadn’t experienced snow in Australia yet so it was pretty exciting. We found there was way more beautiful clean snow around the corner.

Some Bakeys nails from the Adelaide show. The nail game has been so strong this tour.

We picked up 3’s and 0’s touring with Dune Rats a few years ago and it’s been our go-to time killer. You spend most of your time on tour waiting for something.

A couple of friendly Rosellas at the Canberra accom.

We managed to fit in some recording time in Canberra at the holiday park we were staying at.

Most of the green rooms on this run were storage closets and wardrobes, you get fond of it. Fortunately the four of us know each other intimately and have lived on top of one another our whole lives.

You write a song about a UFO sighting expecting people to call you a liar. Turns out our fans are all freaky little believers too.

I don’t know what it is but people have always loved giving this band weird little trinkets. This tour it was rubber ducks, Bakeys sunglasses, mini guitars and beads. We have a collection at the home studio, it’s lovely.

Some of the aforementioned glasses.

The Vinnies at Tailem Bend, an hour east of Adelaide. All of Adelaide’s finest.

This tour left us so energized and with so much love for our freaky family we’ve made. These were some of the funnest shows we’ve played together. Nice to know that live music always wins.
