Chadwick Boseman To Receive Posthumous Star On The Hollywood Walk Of Fame

Chadwick Boseman’s name has always carried weight, the kind that doesn’t fade when the spotlight moves on. Now, five years after his passing, the actor’s legacy is being etched into Hollywood’s most famous footpath.

On 20 November, Boseman will receive a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, cementing his impact on film, culture, and audiences who saw themselves reflected in his performances.

The ceremony will bring together two people who shared the screen and the journey with him, Ryan Coogler, who directed Black Panther, and Viola Davis, Boseman’s powerhouse co star in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. Both are set to speak at the event. Boseman’s widow, Simone Ledward-Boseman, will accept the honour on his behalf, a moment that’s sure to be as emotional as it is historic.

The star will sit at 6904 Hollywood Blvd, right outside the Hollywood Experience, for fans that can’t make the event, it will be streamed on WalkOfFame.com.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which oversees the Walk of Fame, hand picks each recipient. Producer Ana Martinez summed up the significance of this one:

“The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is deeply honored to celebrate Chadwick Boseman’s extraordinary legacy with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. His powerful performances and enduring impact both on and off screen continue to inspire generations around the world.”

Boseman’s rise through the industry was defined by talent and intention, his breakout role came in 2013 with 42, where he embodied Jackie Robinson with sharp restraint and emotional depth. He followed it with transformative portrayals of James Brown in Get On Up and a young Thurgood Marshall in Marshall.

Then came T’Challa. Boseman’s debut as Black Panther in Captain America: Civil War electrified the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ultimately leading to Black Panther, which collected seven Oscar nominations and became the studio’s first Best Picture contender.

Beyond the MCU, Boseman pushed into heavier terrain: 21 Bridges, Da 5 Bloods, and his blistering final performance in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, which earned him multiple posthumous accolades.

Boseman passed in 2020, aged just 43, following a private battle with colon cancer, the Hollywood star won’t just honour a career, it marks a legacy that reshaped what heroism looks like on and off the screen.
