Charli XCX Might Be Heading to Narnia as a Witch

Share

It looks like Charli XCX might be heading into the fantasy world of Narnia. There, she might be trading her micro shorts and cigarettes for a wand and an ice palace.

According to reports, the ‘Brat’ singer is being considered for the role of Jadis, The White Witch, in Greta Gerwig’s upcoming Narnia adaptation for Netflix. While Gerwig’s camp isn’t confirming anything, the thought of Charli trading club floors for ice palaces is already gold.

If this happens, she’d be stepping into the role Tilda Swinton made famous in the 2005 adaptation of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. That version gave us a cold, calculated villain who seduced children with Turkish delight. Charli, on the other hand, would probably lure them in with unreleased hyperpop demos. Either way, the vibe shift would be enormous. I mean, watch the scene below.

Gerwig is directing at least two Narnia films for Netflix, with the first hitting IMAX in November 2026 before streaming on Christmas Day. The casting would also mark a new phase for Charli, who has been quietly stacking up acting credits. She’s already set to appear in The Gallerist, Sacrifice, I Want Your Sex, and an indie project called Erupcja (Polish for ‘eruption’—do with that what you will).

Gerwig has admitted she’s “terrified” of adapting Narnia, calling it an “extraordinary” challenge. Given how she turned Barbie into a billion-dollar existential crisis, her take on Narnia is bound to be anything but predictable. And if she does cast Charli, she might just turn the franchise into an all-out club renaissance. Picture it: The White Witch rolling up to battle Aslan in platform boots and a miniskirt. The Frozen Gaga crossover we never knew we needed.

So, is Charli really about to bring AutoTune to Narnia? Nothing’s locked in, but if Gerwig wants to shake things up, this casting move would do exactly that. Turkish delight? Boring. Jadis with a vocoder and a bass drop? Now we’re talking.
