If clowns have already ruined circuses and sharks have made swimming terrifying, Eli Roth is now coming for ice cream.
The filmmaker behind Hostel, Cabin Fever and Thanksgiving has unveiled the first red band trailer for Ice Cream Man, a gruesome new horror film set to arrive in Australian cinemas on August 6th.
The newly released footage wastes little time establishing its twisted premise, set in what appears to be a picture perfect summer town, the film follows a mysterious ice cream vendor whose frozen treats trigger horrifying consequences among the local children.
What begins as an ordinary neighbourhood summer quickly spirals into blood soaked mayhem as kids transform into violent killers with a terrifying appetite for destruction.
The trailer showcases Roth‘s trademark blend of shock horror, gore and dark humour, featuring scenes of children stalking adults, brutal axe attacks and enough bloodshed to ensure the film earns its red band warning.

Cast and crew
Starring Ari Millen as the enigmatic Ice Cream Man, the cast also includes Benjamin Byron Davis, Karen Cliche, Dylan Hawco and Sarah Abbott. Roth directs and produces the project while also co-writing the screenplay with longtime collaborator Noah Belson.
The story centres on an idyllic town descending into madness after children consume ice cream with horrifying effects, as the treats unleash an insatiable hunger, the youngsters begin targeting the adults around them, turning a suburban paradise into a living nightmare.
Ice Cream Man boasts an impressive creative team behind the scenes, the score comes from composer Brandon Roberts, while additional music contributions include work from hip-hop icon Snoop Dogg.
The film’s practical effects and prosthetic makeup were created by Steve Newburn and Academy Award winning artist Adrien Morot, whose previous credits include The Whale.

The Horror Section
The project also marks a significant milestone for Roth, serving as the first feature film released under his new production company, The Horror Section.
The production company was launched last year and is entirely dedicated to horror focused projects and experiences, just the way we like it.
Following the box office success of Thanksgiving, Roth appears ready to double down on his love of old school splatter cinema, if the trailer is any indication, Ice Cream Man could be one of the most outrageous horror releases of the year.
