Tom Cruise’s New Mission Impossible Movie Reportedly Left Someone Gasping for Air—Literally

Tom Cruise doesn’t slow down. At 62, the man’s still out here defying gravity, logic, and basic health advice. His latest stunt? Allegedly leaving someone so breathless during a screening of the upcoming Mission Impossible – The Final Reckoning that they almost had a heart attack. Yeah, you read that right—Tom Cruise is out here doing his own stunts and causing medical emergencies.

Director Christopher McQuarrie spilled the tea during an interview, saying that after a small test screening of the film, one audience member admitted: “I was suffocating throughout the entire sequence. I almost had a heart attack.” McQuarrie’s response? A casual, “I guess we did something right.” Honestly, I love the confidence, but is giving your audience a near-death experience really the flex you think it is?

Let’s keep this in perspective. Sure, it’s not the first time we’ve heard of films pushing audiences to their limits. Remember when The Exorcist had people fainting and puking in the aisles? Or when Terrifier 2 made headlines last year for making people physically ill? Heck, even Hannibal once caused enough chaos to keep ambulances on standby. But a Mission Impossible flick? Tom Cruise doing cool action stunts isn’t exactly uncharted territory—it’s practically his brand.

Still, you’ve got to hand it to Cruise. Most people his age are slowing down, maybe switching to less demanding careers or spending more time on their golf game. Not Cruise. He’s still riding bikes off cliffs and hanging off planes like he’s got something to prove. It’s admirable and terrifying in equal measure.

I’ll admit, I will probably be front and centre when Mission Impossible – The Final Reckoning finally drops. Nevertheless I am still hoping that Cruise makes it through this one without giving himself a heart attack. Because let’s be real: if anyone’s in danger of flatlining during these stunts, it’s probably the guy doing them. Keep defying gravity, Tom. Just… maybe take it easy after this one? Or don’t. It’s not like Cruise has ever listened to reason before.
