Yungblud’s new feature-length documentary Are You Ready, Boy? is hitting cinemas around Australia from tomorrow.
Yungblud’s been doing all the side quests lately: performing at Back to the Beginning, opening up a fan club and store, and premiering a feature-length doco. Now, that very documentary, Are You Ready, Boy?, is coming to Australian cinemas for an exclusive run.
All showing times and cinemas set to run the Yungblud doco are available to view on the film’s official site, and after checking, it looks like every Australian capital city except Darwin (sorry, folks) is set to get at least once screening.
Yungblud: Are You Ready, Boy? was confirmed to run “exclusively” in cinemas on August 20 (tomorrow) and 24 (Sunday), although there’s some cheeky showings around the country between those two dates. Among the locations set to show the Paul Dugdale-directed documentary are various Hoyts, Village and Palace Cinemas, and tickets are available now – so get in quick.
Yungblud’s documentary premiered in London last week, Are You Ready, Boy? promises an unfiltered, “revealing and uncompromising” look into the musician finding his own voice. It was filmed entirely on location at Berlin’s legendary Hansa Studios – where David Bowie’s ‘Heroes’ was written and recorded – and features 12 brand new performances from his fourth album Idols.
“I wanted to make a film that truly documents where we are right now, at this moment, around the release of my most ambitious album to date,” Yungblud said in a recent statement.
“Berlin has always radiated complete, unfiltered truth. Every time I’ve visited Hansa Studios, it’s just fucking iconic. You can feel the history in Hansa; it’s in the silence between takes, the ceiling looming over you. You’re standing in the shadows of all these legends and asking yourself ‘Who the fuck am I? And what am I gonna leave behind?’”
