I Killed The Prom Queen filled the Manning Bar on Saturday as part of their 25th anniversary tour – and we were there to capture it.
Metalcore legends I Killed The Prom Queen filled up the Manning Bar in Sydney on Saturday, putting on a homerun show celebrating 25 years together as a band.
The gig featured founding members vocalist Michael Crafter, guitarists Jona Weinhofen, Kevin Caemron and drummer JJ Peters taking the stage, along with one-time vocalist Jamie Hope, who hopped on bass duties in honour of late member Sean Kennedy. In honour of Kennedy, Crafter would don a vest with “SK Forever ” printed on it in memory of their bandmate, who tragically passed away in 2021.
Joined by US metal legends Emmure, Sydney deathcore group To The Grave, and Melbourne hardcore outfit Threshold, the Manning Bar was in for a night that would tear the roof down.
By the time I Killed The Prom Queen took the stage, the energy in the room had already reached its tipping point. The band would immediately lay waste to the crowd with the intense opener ‘When Goodbye Means Forever…’, signalling punters in the pit to throw themselves into all sorts of acrobatics and flips. And the night had barely started just yet.
Continuing their sonic onslaught with tracks ‘€666’ and ‘Your Shirt Would Look Better With A Colombian Neck-tie’, I Killed The Prom Queen were quick to remind everyone why they’re the top dogs in the scene.
To close out the night, the band would dive into their two greatest hits: ‘Sharks In Your Mouth’ and the fittingly dubbed ‘Say Goodbye’, leaving fans in a blissful state of hardcore euphoria as they relived their metalcore glory days from the genre’s earliest years.
