letlive brought a high-energy, career-spanning show to Sydney’s Manning Bar on Saturday, giving us a much-needed final goodbye to the hardcore group.

Before letlive even entered the stage, the crowd was already beaming with energy. After a long hiatus, letlive finally announced their proper farewell tour back in February, confirming what we all expected: letlive was breaking up.

With the original lineup all back together, fans weren’t going to waste such a magical moment with the band.

Brisbane’s own Stepson set the scene for the night, bringing a crushing set to get the crowd’s blood pumping for the main event.

By the time letlive had come on stage, the venue felt like it was ready to explode. Kicking off their set with the tense and adrenaline-pumping track ‘Le Prologue’, it was impossible to stand still.

Frontman Jason Aalon Butler’s screams quickly sent shockwaves throughout the crowd, stirring us to follow his command.

As fans had hoped, the setlist for the farewell tour was filled with crowd-pleasing tracks spanning the group’s entire discography.

But the band knew exactly when to balance the aggression with sensitivity. Throughout the show, Butler would address the crowd, reminding fans to support their local venues. He would even go on to be vulnerable with the crowd, admitting that letlive originally started as a defense mechanism against his feelings towards the world, “If I could hurt myself more than anybody or anything, then I’d have control. And that’s what I did in this project,” the singer even explained the reason for the bands breakup to the crowd. “There was no way for me to find love unless I [found] it in myself first, and I had to walk away to try to figure out how to love myself, before I killed myself”.

Butler would then proclaim his love for the band and the audience before playing the track ‘Muther’ to the crowd.
