Alien Ant Farm say it’s “a bummer” that ‘Wish’ didn’t make the cut for the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 remake soundtrack.
Alien Ant Farm have shared their disappointment over being left off the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 soundtrack, despite their track ‘Wish’ appearing on the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3.
Speaking to BBC News following a cryptic sad-face emoji they posted after the soundtrack was announced, guitarist Terry Corso admitted, “Is it a bummer that we weren’t invited, or that they didn’t include us? Absolutely.” [Transcribed via VGC]
“We understand that they’re trying to bring some new stuff onto these releases, and if you’ve gotta make cuts, you’ve gotta make cuts,” he said. “I don’t know why it had to be us, I feel like our song was really good on there and it did really well.”
Alien Ant Farm frontman Dryden Mitchell added, “I kind of get it, that skating feels a little more punk [and] we’re not a punk band, but I think that’s what makes a cool soundtrack, is a collection, being different.”
While a handful of classic songs from THPS3 and THPS4 have been carried into Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 – including Motörhead’s ‘Ace of Spades’ and tracks from CKY and Iron Maiden – many others were swapped for newer selections. Bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers and Zebrahead are also missing.
Tony Hawk himself responded to fan reactions on Instagram, saying, “It was my choice to pick some different songs by the same artists featured in [the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4] OST. I’m hoping that discovery is half the fun, and a big reason that these soundtracks resonated in the first place. So listen and enjoy the ride.”
Some of the other artists confirmed for the remake’s soundtrack include AFI, Iron Maiden, Alice in Chains, Turnstile, Kittie, Denzel Curry, Run-D.M.C., X-Ray Spex, and De La Soul.
Set for release on July 11, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 will be available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2.
