Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has earned a whopping 12 nominations at the upcoming Game Awards, marking the most awards a game has been up for in its history.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 continues its impressive year as the indie French RPG has earned 12 nominations at The Game Awards this year.
The award ceremony would post its nominations online this morning ahead of its December show, and like most folks, they really liked the game.
The game is not only up for Game of the Year but is also nominated for Best Direction, Best Narrative, Best Art Direction, Best WScore and Music, Best Audio, Best Independent Game, Best Debut Independent Game, Best RPG and three of its voice actors are nominated for Best Performance.
That’s not to say Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is the only game to net an impressive amount of nominations. Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding 2 and Sucker Punch Productions’ Ghost of Yōtei would earn seven nominations, Supergiant Games’ Hades II would earn six, Hollow Knight: Silksong scored five noms.
Surprisingly, co-op sci-fi/fantasy game Split Fiction would only earn four nominations despite being a frontrunner at the start of the year.
The Game Awards are set to take place on December 11, 2025 at 5pm PT (December 12, 12PM AEDT) and will showcase the usual celebrity cameos, video game trailers and Geoff Keighley talking about anime gacha games.
