GWAR have spent decades finding increasingly ridiculous ways to spread their intergalactic filth beyond the stage.
Now GWAR are invading American football, with the band getting their own DLC expansion for ‘Mutant Football League 2’ this October (per Next Mosh).
Developed by Digital Dreams Entertainment, ‘Mutant Football League 2: Antarctica Scumdogs’ will introduce a full GWAR-themed team, a new stadium and additional content when it lands on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam.
And yes, they’ve actually assigned positions.
Meet The Antarctica Scumdogs
Blōthar The Berserker will take control at quarterback, with Jizmak Da Gusha at running back. BälSäc Jaws ‘O Death becomes a wonderfully named ‘Bruise Receiver’, while Grodius Maximus will line up at receiver.
Elsewhere, Bonesnapper gets guard duties, Sawborg Destructo becomes a blitzer and Beefcake The Mighty will serve as a linebasher.
If any band was going to make the jump into ‘Mutant Football League 2’, GWAR were probably sitting near the top of the list.
The arcade football series swaps any pretence of sporting respectability for grotesque violence, environmental hazards and dirty tactics, which isn’t exactly alien territory for a band that has built its mythology around blood, monsters and gleefully excessive destruction.
The expansion will also feature a new stadium drawing directly from GWAR’s universe, with further additions being held back until launch.

Players won’t necessarily have to wait until October to get their hands on the Antarctica Scumdogs either.
The team will make its playable debut at PAX West in Seattle from September 4th to 7th, where attendees can try the DLC at Digital Dreams Entertainment’s booth.
There’s an appropriately strange incentive to visit, too. The developer is running a daily raffle at PAX West, with winners getting the opportunity to become a playable member of the Antarctica Scumdogs.
It’s another bizarre addition to GWAR’s ever expanding universe and, compared to some musician and video game crossovers, this one actually makes immediate sense. A game built around mutants brutally dismantling one another on a football field barely needs to change its pitch to accommodate GWAR.
‘Mutant Football League 2: Antarctica Scumdogs’ launches this October on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam. An exact release date is still to be announced.
