Metal Meets Monster Slaying In Crimson Moon, Launching This September

Share

Metal and video games have always made a killer combination, and upcoming action RPG Crimson Moon is doubling down on that formula.

Developer ProbablyMonsters has confirmed Crimson Moon will launch on September 1st for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a surprisingly affordable price tag of US$19.99 (approx. $28.34 AUD).

Alongside the release date announcement, the studio also unveiled a new gameplay trailer (below) and revealed a stacked lineup of metal musicians contributing original music to the game.

Among those lending their talents are HEALTH, Jared Dines, Misha Mansoor, and Ricky Armellino, who have each written original tracks for the game’s major boss encounters.

Set within the gothic city of Gildenarch, Crimson Moon casts players as the Nephilim – human-angel hybrids created to defend humanity against monstrous forces.

Combat combines fast paced melee action with RPG progression systems, while the game has been designed to cater to both solo players and co-op teams looking to tackle increasingly brutal encounters together.

Players who survive three consecutive districts will unlock battles against enormous world bosses before eventually facing the game’s final demonic showdown.

A Deluxe Edition will also launch alongside the standard version, including exclusive cosmetic armour, a themed weapon skin and access to a future expansion.

Game Director David Lesperance says the team wanted to create a premium action experience without a premium price:

“We’ve made Crimson Moon an intense action-adventure RPG that’s approachable to players. We want as many people as possible to enjoy it, and we priced it with that in mind. With our gothic-inspired art design, co-op support, and epic metal soundtrack, we’ve made something truly unique for gamers to experience this September.”

The soundtrack could prove to be one of the game’s biggest drawcards for heavy music fans, with each of the four major boss fights receiving its own original composition.

“When I got invited to collaborate with the incredible team at ProbablyMonsters to help bring Crimson Moon to life, I was so honored,” said Ricky Armellino.

“The game is an epic action RPG that brings gothic and classical elements together with heavy metal, and making these tracks was a blast. I can’t wait for players to hear them in the game next month.”

For gamers who like their fantasy worlds drenched in blood, brutal combat and crushing riffs, Crimson Moon is shaping up to be one of September’s most intriguing releases.
