The next chapter of basketball gaming is almost here, with 2K officially unveiling the cover athletes for NBA 2K27 ahead of its September launch.
This year’s editions celebrate three of the sport’s biggest names across different generations, with Victor Wembanyama, Caitlin Clark and Derrick Rose each fronting a different version of the game.
San Antonio Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama headlines the Standard Edition after a remarkable rise that has already seen him become the NBA’s first unanimous Defensive Player of the Year.
WNBA sensation Caitlin Clark features on the Deluxe Edition, marking another milestone in her career as the first female athlete to receive her own standalone global NBA 2K cover.
Meanwhile, former Chicago Bulls MVP Derrick Rose is honoured with the limited time Ultra Edition, celebrating one of the league’s most electrifying careers.
NBA 2K27 launches worldwide on September 4th, with players who purchase the Deluxe or Ultra Edition gaining Early Access from August 29th.
The first gameplay trailer is also set to premiere globally on July 29th, offering fans their first proper look at this year’s on court improvements.

Speaking about the selection of this year’s cover athletes, Zak Armitage, Senior Vice President and General Manager of NBA 2K, said:
“Victor Wembanyama, Caitlin Clark, and Derrick Rose each come from different worlds, but they share the same obsession that has altered the trajectory of the game.”
Each cover star also reflected on what the achievement means.
Victor Wembanyama described appearing on the cover as “a dream come true,” saying NBA 2K has become an extension of basketball culture for players around the world.
Caitlin Clark said:
“Being on the cover of NBA 2K27 is special because this game reaches fans all over the world. To be the first WNBA player on her own global cover means women’s basketball gets to show up on that stage too, and I am proud to be part of that.”
Derrick Rose added:
“It’s crazy looking back at being on the NBA 2K13 cover to now having my own edition for NBA 2K27.”
Alongside the Standard, Deluxe and Ultra editions, players can expect a range of digital bonuses including Virtual Currency, MyCAREER content, MyTEAM rewards, Season Pass bonuses and early access depending on the version purchased.
