Watch My Chemical Romance Launch Long Live The Black Parade Tour: Setlist + Videos

Share

My Chemical Romance kicked off The Black Parade tour in Seattle on Friday with mock elections, executions, and a whole lot of nostalgia. Here’s the setlist and videos from the night.

My Chemical Romance have always had a flair for the dramatic – whether it’s their theatrical-leaning songs, music videos and lore, or their tour production. The “Long Live: The Black Parade” tour tearing through North America right now is no exception to this – with the Seattle tour opener bringing their iconic album in full (alongside some other classics from the back catalogue) and a whole lot of on-stage antics that eerily reflect the state of the very continent they’re playing through right now.

Friday (July 11) marked the opening date in Seattle for My Chemical Romance’s Long Live: The Black Parade tour and saw the members don updated versions of the marching band uniforms made famous through the 2006 album that had emos and goths globally in a chokehold (and still does, if the sold-out tour is anything to go by).

However, it wasn’t just My Chemical Romance’s performance of The Black Parade in full while wearing the deeply nostalgic costumes fans have come to know over the last nearly two decades – the night was also home to a mock election that led to four people executed by firing squad, a clown kidnapping, and plenty more theatrics that resonate deeply with the state of the world today. Fans are already analysing the band’s operatic performance of “democracy” and the praising of the “grand immortal dictator” supposedly behind bringing back the band.

Check out fan-filmed videos of My Chemical Romance’s first performance of the tour below, as well as the gargantuan setlist. Here’s hoping us Aussies might get a tour Down Under soon.
