AC/DC Honoured with Royal Mail Stamp Collection for 50th Anniversary

Share

AC/DC are getting the stamp of approval—literally. Royal Mail have announced a special collection of 12 stamps to celebrate 50 years since the release of High Voltage, the band’s 1975 debut album.

The set includes live shots from across their career, plus four album covers: High Voltage, Highway to Hell, Back in Black, and Power Up. The stamps are available for pre-order now and will officially go on sale from February 18.

While Royal Mail is handling the tribute, there’s no denying AC/DC’s roots. Formed in Sydney in 1973, they started out playing pubs before going on to define hard rock. High Voltage was their first major release. Now, 50 years later, it’s getting the kind of recognition few albums ever do.

David Gold from Royal Mail called them “one of the most successful rock bands in the world,” highlighting Back in Black as the biggest-selling rock album of all time. But for Australian fans, AC/DC’s impact goes beyond sales figures—they’re part of the country’s musical DNA. While the stamp collection might be a UK tribute, AC/DC will always belong to Australia first. The stamps can be ordered from here.

The announcement comes as AC/DC gear up for a massive European tour in 2025, kicking off in Prague on June 26 and wrapping up in Edinburgh on August 21.

While no Australian dates have yet been unveiled for 2025, it is heavily rumoured the band will soon make an announcement. Blunt have previously reported that these performances are likely to occur in the ‘back half’ of 2025. This tour, if announced, would be nearly a decade in the making. The band last performed in Australia way back in 2016 for their Rock or Bust Tour. It feels like nearly a lifetime has gone by since then, making their potential return even more special.

Keep on checking in with Blunt for any updates on this potential tour.
