Ahren Stringer is making moves. After weeks of speculation, the longtime The Amity Affliction bassist and co-vocalist has confirmed he’s working on solo music and its due for release ‘real soon’.
Stringer has had a rocky road with Amity over the past year. He stepped away temporarily to deal with personal struggles before returning to the band. Upon his return though, Stringer felt the dynamic no longer worked for him. Now, after weeks of speculation and cryptic social media posts— Stringer has confirmed he’s fully out via an Instagram post.
But Stringer isn’t going quiet. Instead, he’s hitting the studio to work on his first-ever solo project.
In a comment to a fan asking about his future, Stringer didn’t hold back. “Way better music and it’s all written by me,” he wrote. “Debut album coming real soon, and by soon I mean real soon.”
That’s about as direct as it gets. There is still no official statement on his departure from The Amity Affliction. However, Stringer’s recent social media post—along with his clear focus on new music—confirms that he has moved on.
Stringer’s next chapter will see him taking full creative control for the first time in his career. While his vocals were always a major part of Amity’s identity, this solo project will be 100% his vision. This means his songwriting, his voice, his direction. Whether he’ll stick to his post-hardcore and metalcore roots or branch out into something new remains to be seen. Whatever it is though, fans won’t be waiting long to hear it.
With a debut album on the horizon and Stringer sounding more confident than ever, this is the start of something big. The Amity Affliction era might be over for him, but by the sound of it, he’s only just getting started.
