Court records show the former Amity Affliction member is due to appear in a Victorian Magistrates Court matter, with sources indicating a high-speed driving incident last year.
Former The Amity Affliction bassist and vocalist Ahren Stringer is scheduled to appear before the Benalla Magistrates’ Court in April 2026, with court records showing a criminal matter listed as a “plea guilty” hearing.
The listing confirms Stringer is due in court in relation to a driving-related offence stemming from last year. The hearing, set for April 21, is expected to involve the formal entry of a plea, with sentencing or further proceedings to follow.
Sources familiar with the matter indicate the incident involved very high speed, understood to be around 190km/h.
Those close to Stringer have emphasised that no drink driving charge has been laid. They say he did not complete a roadside breath test and instead requested a blood test, which he believed he was entitled to following legal advice.
The matter comes after a turbulent period for Stringer, who departed The Amity Affliction earlier in 2025 and has since launched a new project, Self Checkout. In September last year, Stringer was hospitalised following what was described at the time as a “serious and unexpected emergency,” though the nature of that incident has not been publicly linked to the current court matter.
The case remains before the court.
In recent interviews, Stringer has spoken about the personal toll of the past year, describing his mental health as having been “in the toilet” following the events surrounding his departure from the band. He has also denied allegations of drug addiction, instead pointing to burnout and alcohol use during a period of heavy touring.
