Ahren Stringer Hits The Studio In Mexico To Record New Band’s Debut Album

Share

Ahren Stringer, the former bassist and clean vocalist of The Amity Affliction, is back in the studio in Mexico recording music for his new band’s debut album.

After getting hitched earlier this month, Ahren Stringer is back in the studio recording his debut album for his new band – the first music we’ll likely get after his departure from The Amity Affliction.

In photos shared with Blunt, Stringer is seen alongside Marco Aurelio Conde, wife Lucy, Yung Yogi, musician and producer Ana Döring and others in a recording studio in Mexico City. While we’ve so far only heard a demo clip of what he’s been working on after it surfaced online in April, it looks like new material is coming in hot.

Stringer told Blunt at the time of the wedding that “it’s all a clean slate, it’s the first day of the rest of my life, a new band and a solo career.” He confirmed that he was heading to Mexico to record the new album with Yung Yogi and “some of the most insane valedictorians in the music industry.”

The band’s name has yet to be announced, but will include Ahren Stringer and ex-Volumes vocalist Gus Farias (aka Yung Yogi). Stringer’s solo project is apparently still in the pipeline, but we’ll be getting music from the new band first.

While we don’t yet know exactly who else will be producing or working on Stringer’s new album, the studio in question is Marco Aurelio Conde’s – Conde is a music producer, arranger, composer, and multi-instrumentalist based in Mexico City.

Stringer departed from The Amity Affliction earlier this year to a mixed response after confirming the split himself in January. The band announced the split later in February, citing a complete breakdown in their relationship with the vocalist and founding member after a series of personal challenges for the singer, including allegations of addiction which Stringer has denied. “Moving forward, we find it impossible to continue to tolerate certain behaviours that have been directed at ourselves and those close to us,” the band’s statement reads.

The Amity Affliction have since been teasing their own new music, with the unreleased track ‘All That I Remember’ performed live in São Paulo last month – when we’ll get an official recording of the song, or maybe a new album remains to be seen, but it appears both sides of the camp are ramping up for new releases.

Despite the apparent fallout between Stringer and The Amity Affliction, the band wished him well in their closing statement: “The music we’ve created with Ahren will forever bind us and we are thankful for the good times we had together. We wish Ahren all the best in his personal and professional future.”

While it looks like fans will be in for a bit more of a wait before new music officially drops from the Stringer camp, it’s likely it won’t be long before his iconic vocals are back on the air waves.
