Alissa White-Gluz has launched her solo era with ‘The Room Where She Died’ while reflecting on life after Arch Enemy.
Alissa White-Gluz is stepping into her next phase as a solo artist, marking a major shift after years fronting Arch Enemy. Her debut single ‘The Room Where She Died’ is the first preview of her upcoming solo album, and the reaction has already been immediate and intense. According to her, the release brought an outpouring of “love and support” from fans watching this transition unfold.
Alongside the single, she shared the first glimpse of the album’s visual direction, created with Stuttgart-based artist Stefan Heilemann. She also posted a message reflecting on what this moment means for her creatively and personally.
“Wow. I am blown away by the outpouring of love and support I have received over the past few days. Times of transition can be especially intense for the mind, body and heart. I don’t take any of this lightly. But, the overwhelmingly positive response to “The Room Where She Died” has given me so much renewed energy and clarity about who I am as an artist and why I love singing and creating music.”
“I am proud of the body of work I have been building for decades. After so many years of honing my skills as a vocalist, song-writer and performer; absorbing and learning with every show, every album, every video and every meet & greet, I am excited to let my solo work stand on its own…Thank you again for everything.”
Musically, ‘The Room Where She Died’ draws from a world she already knows well. The track was composed by Kamelot keyboardist Oliver Palotai, whose work is familiar to fans of symphonic and melodic metal. Alissa White-Gluz handled every aspect of the vocals on the song, performing, recording, and writing all vocal parts herself.
She described the single’s creation with clear enthusiasm: “‘The Room Where She Died’ is a song that feels truly satisfying to me; like I get to express myself in so many ways that have been dormant for years. This upcoming album is diverse, and I love the idea of opening up this new chapter with this song and video, which I wrote the script for.”
Alissa White-Gluz announced her departure from Arch Enemy earlier this week after twelve years fronting the band. Based on the statements from the band and White-Gluz herself, there doesn’t appear to be any bad blood, but it does seem like she’s embracing her solo era and getting to flex her creative muscles on her own.
