It’s a move that no one predicted but honestly it kind of makes sense in a weird kind of way. Ball Park Music have been announced as the national support for the Australian leg of Oasis’ Live ’25 tour.
The Brisbane indie veterans will open all five stadium dates. Three at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium and two at Accor Stadium in Sydney. Now, this is a really serious slot. Not to add any pressure, but fans have been waiting some twenty plus years for these Oasis performances. The band have also pretty much sold out the entire tour across 31 dates.
Ball Park Music, for their part, are having a bit of a moment right now. Their new album Like Love just debuted at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart. It was their first time hitting the top spot and the first time an Australian act has done it in 2025. Frontman Sam Cromack recently spoke to Blunt Magazine about the impact their song ‘Please Don’t Move to Melbourne’ had had on the bands career.
It’s a pretty stark contrast in vibe. On one hand, you’ve got the Gallagher brothers reliving 1995 in front of 60,000 people. On the other, there’s Ball Park Music – warm, introspective, and disarmingly good live. The pairing might be jarring on paper. I can’t envision the Gallagher brothers sitting around listening to BPM. But in truth, the band do have enough big singalongs and strange emotional punch to win over even the most stubborn Oasis diehards.
And for a band that’s done everything from sweaty clubs to outdoor festivals, it’s hard to think of a better full-circle moment than stepping into a stadium with one of the biggest names in British rock history.
