After making headlines last week for rebuilding the visual rollout of their latest single following concerns over AI-generated artwork, Beartooth have officially unleashed Bullshit, and the track lands exactly as intended: loud, cathartic and impossible to ignore.
The new single arrives as the latest taste of Pure Ecstasy, the band’s upcoming sixth studio album due out August 28th via Fearless Records, following the release of title track Pure Ecstasy and the deeply personal Free, Bullshit pushes back into the aggressive energy that helped define Beartooth’s rise.
Beartooth ‘bullshit’ lyric video
An early version of Frontman Caleb Shomo:
Frontman Caleb Shomo says the song deliberately reconnects with an earlier version of himself:
“Bullshit is a familiar song I’ve written many times. I wanted to revisit the musical style that was the catalyst of so much healing and discovery in my earlier years of Beartooth. It’s an exercise in letting the truth out about what you’re sick of in your own life. Sometimes the easiest way to deal with something is to yell about it as loud as you can. Can confirm, it felt as amazing to do this exercise now as I’d did when I was 19.”
That balance between reflection and chaos appears to sit at the centre of Pure Ecstasy, across 11 tracks, the album reportedly explores growth without pretending life suddenly becomes easy, instead leaning into the mess, intensity and release that Beartooth have built their reputation on.
The record also marks a notable shift behind the scenes, while Shomo has historically carried much of Beartooth’s recording process himself, Pure Ecstasy opens the door wider to collaboration. Contributions from Skyler Accord and producer Fish helped shape the project, while the wider touring lineup also played a larger role during sessions at NRG Recording Studios.
The release continues a huge run for the band following 2023’s The Surface, which delivered chart success and pushed Beartooth even further into modern heavy music’s mainstream conversation.
