Big Rock Tour Brisbane: Papa Roach, A Day To Remember And LANDMVRKS Leave Nothing Standing

Share

Brisbane didn’t just get a show last night, it got flattened.

The Big Rock Tour rolled into the Entertainment Centre last night (April 12th), with LANDMVRKS, Papa Roach and A Day To Remember stacking three very different energies into one relentless night, absolutely no filler, just a constant push from the first note to the final singalong.

LANDMVRKS Set The Bar Early

There’s always that moment with openers where you wonder if the crowd’s just waiting for the headliners, I have to say this was absolutely NOT the case here.

LANDMVRKS came out swinging, and the room was locked in from the start, I’m sure they would have earned themselves some new fans with a non stop set, ‘Sulfur’ being the highlight here (for me), it hit with weight and precision, but the bigger takeaway was consistency.

There wasn’t a lull anywhere, every track carried and they didn’t feel like an opener at all, they felt like a band claiming ground.

Papa Roach Turn It Into Something Bigger

From the jump, the Papa Roach energy was dialled in, but it was frontman Jacoby Shaddix who kept pushing it further, he even jumped straight into the crowd during ‘…To Be Loved’, dragging the performance right through the middle of the venue. He actually popped up just to my right at one stage, it had a very Jon Moxley of AEW type feel, I have not seen that before, amazing.

There were lighter moments throughout with Shaddix showing respect to the group dressed as bananas and dropped a very Australian ‘sick c**t’ many times, which landed exactly how you’d expect.

The shift came with ‘Leave A Light On (Talk Away the Dark)’, phones lit up across the arena, turning the space into something quieter, heavier, it cut through the noise in a way most bands can’t pull off.

He also confirmed a new Papa Roach album is set for September, giving fans something immediate to hold onto, then came the ‘Nu Metal Time Machine’. ‘Chop Suey’ got the biggest reaction of the night, hands down.

A Day To Remember Close It Out Loud

A Day To Remember don’t do subtle, and they didn’t start here.

From ‘The Downfall of Us All’ through to ‘All Signs Point to Lauderdale’, it was a full-scale release, big hooks, bigger singalongs, and just enough chaos to keep it unpredictable.

There was even a messy, half remembered run at Nickelback’s ‘Photograph’, which somehow made the moment better, by the end, the room was spent. What a time!
