Fireborn’s Jennifer Gruber will cover the band’s remaining 2026 shows while auditions for a permanent singer continue.
Burning Witches have announced Laura Guldemond’s departure after seven years, with Fireborn vocalist Jennifer Gruber stepping in for their upcoming end-of-year shows.
The Swiss heavy metal band confirmed the change in an official statement that also includes Guldemond’s own explanation. All announced concerts are set to go ahead, and auditions for a permanent replacement are already underway.
The band said they had discussed a way forward with Guldemond but ultimately accepted her decision to leave. They thanked her for the albums, performances and memories they had shared.
Guldemond described the departure as her choice, saying she was proud of the four records they had made together. She also asked fans to respect the decision.
“There are no hard feelings,” she said, explaining that it was time for a change “when visions no longer fully align”.
Her next focus will be her own music and other creative projects. She has not announced a specific release or new band in the statement.
Guldemond joined Burning Witches in 2019, with the band’s official biography recording her debut at Sweden Rock that year. Her tenure spanned Dance With The Devil, The Witch Of The North, The Dark Tower and Inquisition, the four most recent studio albums listed in their official discography.
Australian audiences saw that era of the band during their 2025 visit. BLUNT’s gallery from Manning Bar in Sydney on 22 May captured Guldemond fronting a set that included ‘The Dark Tower’ and ‘The Witch Of The North’.
Gruber’s appointment covers the immediate live commitments. The permanent frontwoman position remains open, with Burning Witches continuing the search while preparing to play their announced shows.
