There’s something quietly unsettling about Chanel Beads’ return, like a melody you almost recognise but can’t quite place, Shane Lavers isn’t retracing old ground, he’s warping it.
Chanel Beads have confirmed their second album, ‘Your Day Will Come’, landing June 26th via Jagjaguwar, alongside the release of a new single, ‘Song for the Messenger’, the record shares its name with Lavers’ 2024 debut, but don’t mistake it for a sequel. This is a reset, not a continuation.
Lavers leans into that ambiguity, the title now feels less like a statement and more like a question hanging in the air. Will it come? And if it does, what does that even look like?
‘Song for the Messenger’ sets the tone
The new Chanel Beads single, ‘Song for the Messenger’, pulls you into that headspace immediately, it’s fractured, uneasy, and deliberately off balance.
“This song is laughing at me. Like looking over your shoulder and walking off a cliff. The video is about no fear.”

That tension runs through the entire project, Lavers wrote the album in a stripped back Brooklyn studio, building tracks from whatever was within reach. No overthinking or polish first approach, just instinct, Violinist Zachary Paul returns with a stronger presence, while Maya McGrory’s voice drifts back into the mix, joined by a rotating cast of collaborators from Lavers’ orbit.
A shift in sound and scope
There’s a noticeable evolution here, more live instrumentation, more voices, and more room to breathe, Lavers’ lyrics remain fragmented, circling ideas of loss, memory, and the uneasy coexistence of nihilism and love.
“It feels as if one should obliterate the other, but they don’t.”
That push and pull defines ‘Your Day Will Come’. It doesn’t resolve neatly, it lingers.
