Suicide Silence’s Chris Garza Steps Back For A Reset -‘I’ll Be Back’

Share

Suicide Silence guitarist Chris Garza has confirmed he’s stepping away from the band for now, telling fans he’s hitting pause after more than two decades of running at full speed.

The announcement landed this morning via Garza’s social media, following his absence from recent shows, a gap fans had already begun to notice.

Garza didn’t mince words when explaining the choice:

“What’s up everyone,
As some of you have noticed, I’ve missed the last couple Suicide Silence shows. It’s because I’m on a hiatus from the band. SuSi has been on my brain every day since 2002 with no break. Everything is fine. I just need to press the reset button so I can make the right decisions in the near future. As the Terminator said. I’ll be back. –Garza”

For a band built on relentless energy and a guitarist who’s been there since the beginning, a break like this feels significant, but hardly surprising.

Suicide Silence have been grinding through album cycles, lineup shifts, and the unpredictable life of the metal world for over twenty years.

The Garza Podcast

Garza has not only anchored the band’s sound but also built his second life as the host of The Garza Podcast, where he digs deep into metal history, culture, and creativity.

The workload’s been heavy, and the man admitting he needs a reset feels less like a shock and more like a moment of honesty the scene rarely gets to witness.

Importantly, he stresses nothing dramatic is unfolding behind the curtain, this isn’t a fractured band or internal fallout, just a musician recognising that stepping back now might be what keeps him going in the long run.

With a promise like “I’ll be back”, fans can probably expect this to be more pit stop than permanent exit and extra credit on the Terminator reference.
