Coldplay frontman Chris Martin asked fans to “send love” to Charlie Kirk’s family (among others) at their Wembley Stadium show on Friday.
Coldplay’s Chris Martin asked fans at their Wembley Stadium show on Friday (September 12) to “send love” around the world, suggesting they send it to Charlie Kirk’s family.
Kirk, a right wing activist, was killed on Wednesday (September 10) after being shot in the neck during an event at Utah Valley University. He was 31 years old.
Chris Martin addressed attendees before Coldplay performed ‘Fix You,’ suggesting fans raise their hands and “send love anywhere you wanna send it in the world.”
“There are so many places that might need it today,” he added. “You can send this to your brother or your sister, you can send it to the families of people who have been going through terrible stuff, you can send it to Charlie Kirk’s family.”
“You can send it to people you disagree with, but you send them love anyway…You can send it to peaceful people in the Middle East, in Ukraine and Russia, Azerbaijan and Sudan and Somalia. Anywhere you think might need love from London”

A 22-year-old from Utah named Tyler Robinson has since been arrested in relation to the shooting of Charlie Kirk. He had been charged with suspicion of aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily harm, and obstruction of justice.
This isn’t the first time Coldplay has spoken out on current issues – just recently, Chris Martin welcomed two Israeli attendees on stage, before also sending a welcome out to the crowd to any Palestinian fans in attendance too. While some felt the statement was too neutral, others have praised him for using his platform.
