Comeback Kid Team With Incendiary’s Brendan Garrone On ‘Yesterday’s Gone’

Comeback Kid have teamed with Incendiary vocalist Brendan Garrone on “Yesterday’s Gone”, the latest preview of their forthcoming eighth album, Chosen Hell.

Due November 6th through SharpTone Records in the US and Dine Alone Records in Canada, Chosen Hell follows 2022’s Heavy Steps and continues a run that began with the album’s title track.

“Yesterday’s Gone” plays directly into the balance Comeback Kid have spent years refining: melody up front, hardcore momentum underneath it and a breakdown waiting at the other end.

“We wanted to play to our strengths on Yesterday’s Gone by establishing our melodic signature sound with aggressive upbeat hardcore, and a pummeling breakdown to tie it all up.” explains vocalist Andrew Neufeld.

“Having Brendan from Incendiary on it just upped the ante for us as he is one of the only two guests on this album.”

The finished version apparently took some work to get there. Neufeld says the song was rewritten several times, with ideas from different demos eventually pulled together into one track.

Lyrically, it lands on familiar Comeback Kid territory: leaving the past where it belongs rather than allowing it to keep dictating what comes next.

Chosen Hell was recorded with Will Putney at Graphic Nature Audio in New Jersey, but the writing process itself was somewhat different for the band.

“Overall, I was able to let my guard down a little bit while writing for this one, and took more input from everybody else,” Neufeld says. “It was really collaborative that way, which is also kind of new for us.”

Garrone is one of just two guest vocalists across the album. Spiritbox frontwoman Courtney LaPlante appears on “Shedding Season”.

There’s an Australian connection to the record too. The Chosen Hell cover isn’t simply a digital creation: its central structure was physically built by Melbourne artist and designer Callum Preston.

“Yesterday’s Gone” is out now alongside a new music video.

Chosen Hell arrives November 6th.
