Corey Taylor’s Son Griffin Taylor Makes Knotfest Debut in Melbourne

Griffin Taylor is stepping into the fire. The son of Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor has made his Knotfest debut with his band, Vended, marking a significant milestone in his growing career.

Vended—featuring Griffin on vocals alongside Simon Crahan, son of Slipknot percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan—has been carving out its own space in the heavy music scene. The band’s performance at Knotfest cemented its rising status, proving it’s more than just a product of famous lineage.

Delivering a ferocious set, Vended tore through tracks from their debut EP What Is It / Kill It, alongside newer material that further cements their unrelenting sound. Griffin’s presence on stage was impossible to ignore, his raw vocal delivery carrying echoes of his father’s signature intensity without feeling like a carbon copy. The band’s energy was visceral, driven by thick riffs, chaotic percussion, and a stage presence that felt both reckless and calculated.

While comparisons to Slipknot are inevitable, Vended’s sound leans into a more groove-laden, hardcore-infused aggression. The influence is there but also how could it not be?

Watching Vended is quite a remarkable thing too. Like moulding a sculpture, with each performance you see the band come into their own that little bit more. The bands performances also seem to be resonating well with audiences. Tracks like ‘Asylum’ and ‘Burn My Misery’ channel frustration and fury with an authenticity that resonates well beyond their family ties.

Griffin has previously acknowledged the weight of his last name, but he’s not interested in riding coattails. Vended’s music speaks for itself, and their Knotfest debut reinforced that they’re here to earn respect on their own terms.

With an undeniable live presence and a growing fanbase, Vended is proving they belong in heavy music’s future. And for Griffin Taylor, this promises to be just the beginning of it all.
