Cradle of Filth frontman Dani Filth proposed to his partner Sofiya Belousova during the band’s Download Festival set, calling the moment “really fucking important.”
Cradle of Filth frontman Dani Filth used the band’s set at Download Festival 2025 for more than just blasting through fan favourites – he proposed to his longtime partner, Sofiya Belousova, in front of a packed crowd.
Midway through their set, Filth paused to address the crowd: “I want to beg a few minutes of your time. This is really fucking important, at least for me. I’m gonna embarrass my partner now. Sofiya, come out here.”
Belousova walked onstage as a cloaked figure entered from the other side holding the ring, prompting Filth to quip, “In your own time, ring bearer.” He held up the ring and joked it was “all the way from Mordor,” before dropping to one knee.
“Sofiya, love of my life, my queen. Will you…” he began, before Sofiya gave her answer – a kiss and an embrace in front of thousands of screaming fans. Belousova exited the stage and Cradle of Filth launched straight into ‘Malignant Perfection’.

The engagement comes during a banner year for Cradle of Filth, who’ve recently seen plenty of love in the air. Earlier in 2025, guitarist Marek ‘Ashok’ Smerda and keyboardist Zoe Federoff tied the knot in Tucson, Arizona.
Speaking on the nuptials of Smerda and Federoff with Loudwire, Filth said “it’s a sure sign that things are going well in the band and we all attended. I took my partner and her son to Arizona. We had an amazing week and everything was really magical.”
