Dayseeker are back, announcing their brand-new album Creature In The Black of Night is coming this October.
Southern California band Dayseeker have just announced their next album, Creature In The Black of Night, due October 24th via Spinefarm. This will be the band’s long-awaited follow-up to their acclaimed 2022 LP, Dark Sun.
Produced by Daniel Braunstein (Spiritbox, Silent Planet) and mixed by Zakk Cervini (Blink-182, Bring Me The Horizon, Lorna Shore), Creature In The Black of Night is embracing a horror-film influence, which permeates throughout its 11-track runtime.
The band dropped the first single for the album ‘Pale Moonlight’ in April. It was classic Dayseeker – cinematic, sensual, and you guessed it, heavy. It also gave us the first glimpse into the themes of the new record, hinting at a darker and sinister sound. The new album announcement comes alongside the release of the title track which follows along a similar sonic path – moody, dreamy, and heavy all in one.

In an interview with Kerrang, vocalist Rory Rodriguez shared that the eerie new sound for the album is attributed to changes in his life. “This album is about the personal issues I’ve dealt with, trying to navigate life as our band becomes a little more successful,” shared Rodriguez. “I’m alive and functioning as a human, but maybe not experiencing and feeling things as much as I should.”
Dayseeker is renowned for its blend of melancholic and brooding metal. A sound that saw them supporting bands like Bad Omens and Pierce The Veil at sold-out arenas. However, Rodriguez shared that they wanted to move in a different direction, embracing influences from horror movies.
“There’s a horror-inspired vibe that took hold early on,” Rodriguez admitted. “It wasn’t planned. But once it started showing up in the songs, we leaned into it.”
Despite the new sound, Rodriguez says Creature In The Black of Night should still scratch that itch Dayseeker fans are expecting. “There was this idea that we’d get more and more commercial over time. But I think the opposite happened – we’re riffing more, I’m screaming more. And it feels good. It feels honest.”
Creature In The Black Night drops October 24th via Spinefarm – so there’s not long to wait before we get more of that spooky, synthy goodness.
