Australian metalheads waiting to raise drinking horns with Ensiferum this year are going to have to hold the line a little longer.
The Finnish folk metal veterans have officially postponed their planned Australian run after international flight cancellations linked to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East left the band unable to travel, the tour has now been rescheduled for April next year (2027).
In a statement shared with fans, the band explained the situation was entirely out of their hands after their airline cancelled all return flights connected to the routing (per press release):
‘’To all our fans in Australia, unfortunately our airline has cancelled all of our return flights due to the routing through the Middle East. We booked these flights back in December, but due to the current conflict, all our flights have been cancelled. This is a huge blow to us and is beyond our control, we tried many other ways to get Down Under, but with only weeks to go until the shows, this has become impossible. The band, management and the promoter have exhausted all options, there simply isn’t anything we can do at such a late stage. Fear not, we are still coming. We have rescheduled the shows to April 2027, so please hang onto your tickets they will remain valid, if the new dates don’t suit you, full refunds will be given. We thank you for your support and we will see you at the new shows.’’

For Australian fans, it’s another frustrating reminder of how global instability continues to hammer international touring, flights through the Middle East remain heavily disrupted, and for bands operating on tight schedules and routing windows, one cancellation can collapse an entire run.
Still, the silver lining is that Ensiferum aren’t abandoning the tour altogether, instead the band will return in 2027 for their ‘Winter Storm Over Australia’ tour, celebrating both their latest album Winter Storm and nearly three decades of folk-infused melodeath tunes.

The tour will also mark Ensiferum’s first Australian visit since their 2019 ‘Two Paths’ run, with the 2027 dates expanding beyond Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne to include Perth, Adelaide, and Canberra.
Given how quickly pre sales reportedly disappeared the first time around, expect these rescheduled shows to move fast once fans regroup.
