Faster Pussycat frontman Taime Downe is facing an unimaginable loss after his fiancée, Kimberly Burch, went overboard on The 80s Cruise.
The incident happened on February 27, the first night of the cruise, about 20 miles from Freeport, Bahamas. Authorities have yet to determine whether Burch jumped, was pushed, or fell.
Burch’s mother, Carnell Burch has since told TMZ that her daughter had been drinking and got into an argument with Downe before going overboard. She described the drinking as “out of character” but said she hadn’t noticed any other red flags. The Coast Guard and the Royal Bahamas Defense Force searched for Burch, but the rescue effort has since come up empty.
Royal Caribbean issued a statement confirming that their crew immediately responded to the incident, working alongside local authorities in an attempt to locate Burch. “Our crew immediately launched a search and rescue effort, is working with local authorities, and we are providing support and assistance to the guest’s family during this difficult time,” a Royal Caribbean spokesperson said. “To respect the privacy of our guest’s family, we have no additional details to share.”
While The 80s Cruise was packed with acts from rock’s neon-drenched era—including Queensrÿche, 38 Special, and The English Beat—Faster Pussycat was not on the lineup. The band, known for their sleaze-rock anthems like ‘Bathroom Wall’ and ‘House of Pain,’ had no scheduled performances on the ship, meaning Downe was onboard as a guest rather than a performer.
The tragedy has left more questions than answers, with speculation swirling around what led to Burch’s fatal fall. Authorities have not yet confirmed if foul play is suspected, and Downe has yet to issue a public statement. What was supposed to be a nostalgia-fuelled rock and roll cruise has now been overshadowed by an unthinkable loss.
