Fieldy Hasn’t Spoken to Korn Since 2019—And He’s Fine With That

Korn’s longtime bassist Fieldy hasn’t played with the band since 2021—but he also hasn’t spoken to them since 2019.

In a new interview with Basement Talk, he kept things vague when asked about his status in the band. “I haven’t talked to those guys since 2019,” he admitted, before stopping himself mid-sentence. “They’re truckin’. They’re a machine. They’re going. It’s insane. It’s dope that they can keep on going like that. It’s cool to see them keep on going, but I need to chill.”

Fieldy’s been listed as on hiatus since 2021, with Suicidal Tendencies’ Ra Díaz filling in as Korn’s touring bassist. But based on his comments, he doesn’t seem interested in returning anytime soon.

Instead, he’s focusing on his other band, Stillwell—a side project with P.O.D. drummer Noah “Wuv” Benardo and rapper/guitarist Q-Unique. He confirmed they’re working on new material and bringing in new members, but didn’t share much beyond that.

Korn, meanwhile, are moving ahead as usual. They’ve got new music in the works and festival dates lined up, including Sick New World in April. The band hasn’t addressed Fieldy’s comments, but it’s been clear for a while that they’re not waiting for him to return.

This isn’t the first time Fieldy has stepped away. Back in 2012, he took time off for the birth of his child, with Ryan Martinie (Mudvayne) filling in. But this time feels different. He’s been absent for nearly four years now, and his recent comments suggest he’s fully detached from the band’s inner circle.

Could he come back at some point? Maybe. But for now, he seems more focused on his own music and keeping a low profile.

Korn, on the other hand, are still a machine, as Fieldy put it. And this machine doesn’t look like it’s going to be slowing down anytime soon.
