Fontaines D.C. Announce a String of DJ Gigs in Fremantle, Brisbane and Sydney

Fresh off the back of a sold-out Australian tour, Fontaines D.C. are keeping the party going with a series of late-night DJ sets in Fremantle, Brisbane, and Sydney.

The Irish post-punks are known for their sharp, no-frills live performances, but this time they’ll be taking over the decks instead of the stage.

Kicking off at Mojos’s in Fremantle on Wednesday, February 26, they’ll then head to Brisbane’s Triffid on Saturday, March 11 straight after their Fortitude Music Hall show. The band will also play a set at Sydney’s iconic Landsdowne Hotel on Thursday, March 6.

Fontaines D.C. have never been just any old rock band. Their influences run deep, pulling from garage rock, post-punk, krautrock, and left-field electronic music. Whether they’re spinning old-school punk, or something unexpected, these sets will likely offer a look into the sounds that fuel their own music. The band are arriving in Australia in support of their fourth album Romance which got them nominated for a Grammy. Pulling them further into mainstream success, Fontaines still exist on the fringes. Which, in my opinion, is exactly where they want to stay.

Special guests will also be on hand for each show. Given the band’s proclivity for unpredictability, there’s no telling what could happen.

These special guests are certainly more than likely to take the form of support act, Shame. The South London rockers stepped up to the plate after Wunderhorse previously dropped out. Their latest album, Food for Worms, saw them push further into jagged, unpredictable territory, cementing them as one of the most exciting acts to emerge from the UK’s post-punk resurgence.

Whether it’s a rowdy, sweaty afterparty or a carefully curated deep dive into their record collection, these sets are shaping up to be something different.

Tickets for all DJ sets are on sale now via Moshtix and Oztix.
