Fontaines D.C. have dropped a cryptic teaser for their latest single, It’s Amazing To Be Young, hinting at a brighter, more euphoric sound than what we’ve come to expect from the Dublin post-punks.
The short clip, posted across their socials, offers little in the way of details. It features a distressed looking girl sitting in the back of a car looking mournfully out the window. While I understand it’s not much to go on, it has been enough to send fans into a frenzy.
The track, which seems to embrace a more expansive and uplifting sonic direction, marks an intriguing shift for the band. While Fontaines D.C. have always thrived on raw energy and brooding intensity, this teaser suggests they might be leaning into something more blissed-out. Whether this is a one-off experiment or a sign of a new chapter remains to be seen.
With their relentless touring schedule and growing status as one of the most captivating live acts in modern rock, it’s no surprise they’ve been evolving. Since Skinty Fia cemented their place as one of the most vital bands of the last decade, Fontaines D.C. have been pushing their sound further outward, and It’s Amazing To Be Young seems poised to continue that trajectory.
The timing couldn’t be better, either. The band is set to touch down in Australia later this month for their biggest run of shows yet. If this new track is making its way into their setlist, Aussie crowds will be the first to experience it live.
