Former Maroon 5 Bassist Mickey Madden Accused of Sexting Teen

Mickey Madden, best known as the former bassist of Maroon 5, has been accused of domestic violence and sending sexual messages to a teenage girl.

His wife, Kate Bowman, filed a restraining order against him last week, claiming a violent altercation took place at their Los Angeles home after she uncovered messages between Madden and multiple high school girls.

In her court filing, Bowman alleges the incident happened on 21 July. She says she confronted Madden after receiving a message from one of the girls. When she asked to see his phone, she claims he refused and began deleting messages. Bowman then took the phone and ran outside. She says Madden caught up with her, restrained her, slammed her into the kitchen counter and shoved her to the floor. She described him as completely unhinged and said she was left terrified.

Screenshots submitted to the court show Madden allegedly describing his messages as “fake, private fantasies” with no intent to act on them. In one message, Bowman wrote that she no longer recognised the man who would pay teenagers to roleplay disturbing sexual scenarios, even during their honeymoon.

Madden has not responded publicly and is reportedly in a rehabilitation facility, according to People. This is not his first run-in with the law. In 2020, he stepped away from Maroon 5 after being charged with domestic violence. That earlier case involved a charge of inflicting a traumatic injury on a spouse or cohabitant. The details were however, never made public.

Once a founding member of one of the biggest pop bands of the 2000s, Madden’s reputation has clearly taken a sharp fall. The clean-cut image is long gone, replaced by a string of legal issues and disturbing allegations.

Whether this all ends in charges or quietly fades, the damage is done. The story is really no longer about the music, it’s more about accountability, and the people left to deal with the aftermath.
