Frank Ferrer Comments on His Departure from Guns N’ Roses: “I’m Disappointed It Came To An End”

Last week, Guns N’ Roses drummer Frank Ferrer officially wrapped up his 19 year stint in the band.

While the departure was initially framed as amicable, the longtime drummer isn’t exactly walking away without bruises.

In a statement posted last week, Guns N’ Roses thanked Ferrer for “friendship, creativity, and sturdy presence,” noting his contributions across nearly two decades of touring including the Not In This Lifetime… reunion run with Axl, Slash, and Duff.

He joined the band mid-tour in 2006, stepping in for Bryan Mantia, and quietly became the longest-serving drummer in Guns N’ Roses history. But earlier this week, he was replaced by Isaac Carpenter (AWOLNATION, Duff’s Loaded, A Perfect Circle), with the band confirming the lineup change just 24 hours later.

Ferrer then took to Instagram to share his side. “I will have immense gratitude and love always for Axl and the band,” he wrote. “At the same time, [I feel] disappointment that this chapter came to an end.”

His words, while classy also did not hide the sting. “It’s been an incredible 19 years. Guns N’ Roses has given me life-changing memories and experiences. I hope I see you all again soon.”

His exit comes not long after Matt Sorum admitted he’s finally made peace with being excluded from the band’s reunion. Seems like the Guns N’ Roses drummer seat remains as unpredictable as ever.

Ferrer’s final stretch with the band included shows across the world and enough pyro to light up half a city. While he was never the flashiest member, his playing held the chaos together especially during the band’s notoriously unhinged live runs.

Now, as Guns N’ Roses gear up to play Black Sabbath’s final show at Villa Park on July 5, they’re doing it without the drummer who’s been in the trenches with them for nearly two decades. The difference may be noticeable.
