Green Day have locked in local support for the Australian leg of The Saviors Tour, bringing Melbourne punk chaos merchants Private Function along for the ride. The tour, which sees Green Day playing Dookie and American Idiot in full, kicks off in March with three massive stadium shows in Melbourne, Sydney, and the Gold Coast.
Private Function have built a reputation as one of Australia’s most unpredictable and unfiltered live acts, known for their chaotic shows, tongue-in-cheek humour, and a string of top ten records. Joining Green Day and special guests AFI, they’ll bring their unhinged energy to some of the biggest stages of their career. By all accounts, their shows are loud, chaotic, and entirely unpredictable. This makes them the perfect addition to a stadium lineup that already promises to be larger than life.
Green Day’s Saviors Tour is a celebration of two of punk’s most defining albums—1994’s Dookie, which turns 30 this year, and 2004’s American Idiot, which hits its 20-year mark. Both records have helped shape modern punk, and Green Day are giving them the full album treatment. Their latest album, Saviors, has added a fresh wave of energy to their already stacked discography, proving that even after 14 albums, Green Day are still pushing forward.
Joining them on the tour is AFI, marking their long-awaited return to Australia. The Californian rockers haven’t been on Aussie soil since 2017. This makes their addition to the tour even more significant for longtime fans. With a history spanning decades and a dedicated following, they’re the perfect addition to a tour built on punk legacy.
