Green Day’s Gold Coast Show Cancelled Due to Cyclone Alfred

Share

Green Day’s March 5th show at Cbus Super Stadium on the Gold Coast has been cancelled as Cyclone Alfred barrels towards Southeast Queensland.

Wall of Sound reports that inside sources have confirmed the cancellation, though no official statement has been made by venue operators or promoter Live Nation.

The cancellation comes as no surprise, with severe weather warnings already in place across Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast, and the Gold Coast. Cyclone Alfred is expected to make landfall late Thursday or early Friday, bringing extreme rainfall, flash flooding, and winds reaching 120 km/h. The CBUS Super Stadium show—which was set to feature AFI as the main support act—was one of the most anticipated on the tour, making this a major disappointment for fans.

No Time for a Reschedule?

With Green Day’s next stop at Lollapalooza India on March 9, there’s almost no chance of a reschedule before the band leaves the country. While many fans were hoping for a postponed date, the tight touring schedule means this show is likely to be a straight-up cancellation rather than a delay. Fans will need to wait for an official statement from Live Nation regarding refunds and ticketing policies.

More Cancellations Incoming?

Green Day isn’t the only band affected by Cyclone Alfred. Other upcoming gigs in Queensland are now at risk, including:

  • Alexisonfire & Underoath – March 8 at Riverstage, Brisbane
  • Stone Temple Pilots – March 8 at HOTA, Gold Coast
  • AFI’s headline sideshow – March 6 at Fortitude Music Hall, Brisbane

With major disruptions expected, fans should monitor official updates from venues and promoters for potential postponements or refunds.

What Should Fans Do?

Ticket holders should keep an eye on their emails for refund details from Ticketmaster and Live Nation. If you’ve made travel or accommodation bookings, check with providers regarding cancellation policies due to severe weather conditions.
