Grinspoon have just blown out 30 candles on the cake – and they’re celebrating the only way they know how: by hitting the road for a huge national tour.
The Lismore legends Grinspoon have announced their ‘30th Birthday Bonanza’ tour, a coast-to-coast rock’n’roll rampage set to kick off this November. It follows a red-hot run over the past year, with their comeback album Whatever, Whatever earning them an ARIA nod and their Whatever Whenever Wherever tour clocking up 45 sold-out shows around the country.
And now, they’re going bigger.
“We are beyond humbled and downright flippin’ thrilled to be celebrating our 30th anniversary with you this year (we know, we don’t look a day over 29),” the band said in a post to Instagram. “This party will be talked about for decades. BE THERE! #yeehaw #dirtythirty”
With seven top ten albums, 13 ARIA nominations, and a reputation for one of the sweatiest, loudest, most chaotic live shows in the game, Grinspoon have earned their place in the Aussie rock hall of fame. The 30th Birthday Bonanza will dive headfirst into the entire discography—from Guide to Better Living and Easy, through Thrills, Kills & Sunday Pills, Black Rabbits, and their latest heavy-hitter Whatever, Whatever.
Grinspoon’s victory lap begins with Night at the Parkland (Brisbane, Sept 12) and Night at the Barracks (Sydney, Oct 4), with a stacked support lineup in tow. Bad//Dreems will join the party across most dates, with Regurgitator, Molly Rocket, Loose Content, Purple Disturbance, and Lonesome Dove rotating in across the run. They’ll wrap up with a pre-Christmas blowout at Melbourne’s Forum on December 19. In between, they’ll hit Perth, Adelaide, Newcastle, and Canberra.
If you’ve ever sweated through More Than You Are in a packed pub or screamed Chemical Heart into a beer-soaked moshpit, you already know – Grinspoon’s new tour isn’t just a celebration, it’s a full-blown cultural event.
