Hardy Says He Loves Sleep Token, Even If Some Metalheads ‘Love To Sh*t On’ Them

US country star Hardy has publicly expressed his love for Sleep Token, months after defending them against backlash from some heavy music fans.

If there are no Sleep Token fans left in the world, it’s a world Hardy isn’t in anymore – the country music star has publicly shared his admiration for the masked melodic metal band, and it’s safe to say he’s a big fan.

In an interview with Rolling Stone‘s Nashville Now, Hardy says Sleep Token is at the top of his list of bands he’s currently listening to.

“Metalheads love to sh*t on Sleep Token, but, man, it’s very fresh,” he says. “If you don’t tell anybody what genre it is, and just listen to it and make an assessment: it’s fresh and it’s cool and the melodies are dope.

“He’s got a very dope voice. There’s a big weird sexual energy with a lot of it, which I think is super cool.”

“The fact that they’re all anonymous and in this spooky ass sh*t… Aesthetically it’s really cool.”

This isn’t the first time Hardy has gone to bat for Sleep Token, though. In May, the country star called their music “the freshest sh*t I’ve ever heard,” and defended the band against the hate received in the wake of their newest album, Even In Arcadia. He likened the criticism aimed at them to the kind of flack once directed at Nickelback and Creed during their commercial peak.

“This is funny that you talked about Creed and Nickelback and people hating, because I’m already starting to see this with this band—and it pisses me off because I just think they’re so different and cool,” he said.

“I’m the biggest Sleep Token fan in the world. I think they are so sick. I think it’s the freshest sh*t I’ve ever heard. So they’re number one on my list right now.”

It seems like they’ve remained number one over four months later, and Hardy isn’t shy about it.
