In Flames have officially parted ways with longtime drummer Tanner Wayne, joining a long list of bands navigating major lineup changes behind the kit in 2025.
Swedish metal heavyweights In Flames have officially parted ways with drummer Tanner Wayne, becoming the latest in a swelling wave of bands undergoing major shake-ups behind the kit.
The band shared the news via Instagram, writing: “It is with profound gratitude and appreciation that we announce our creative decision to part ways with Tanner Wayne. His dedication and musicianship over the past several years has left, and will continue to leave, a lasting mark on this band. We wish him nothing but the best.”
They added, “We appreciate your support and understanding at this time and hope to see you all on tour this summer.”
Wayne joined In Flames in 2018, just ahead of the release of I, The Mask, and stayed with the band through their most recent record, 2023’s Foregone, along with its deluxe edition and a handful of collaborations. He was known for bringing a sharper, more aggressive edge to their rhythm section during a key era of reinvention for the band.
But In Flames aren’t alone in navigating drummer departures this year. Over the past few months, The Who, Foo Fighters, Guns N’ Roses, and even Iron Maiden have seen their drumming lineups shift. Closer to home, bands like To The Grave have also seen behind the kit with Raymond Martin officially becoming a member this year, joining a strange trend that’s sweeping across genres.
Whether it’s burnout, creative clashes or something else entirely, the revolving door of drummers in 2025 is starting to feel less like coincidence and more like a pattern. For now, In Flames march forward, sans Wayne, with fans likely wondering who will fill the throne next.
