It Looks Like Bring Me the Horizon May Taking a Hiatus

It looks like Bring Me the Horizon might finally be hitting the pause button after a pretty relentless 2024. The bands lead vocalist, Oli Sykes recently admitted that the band is feeling burnt out, and it sounds like a well-earned break is coming.

“I’m just so fried from NeX GEn,” Sykes confessed in a recent chat with NME. He’s not wrong—between the whole Post Human saga and non-stop touring, it’s clear the guy needs some serious down time. “The last time we stopped was during lockdown. Even then, we were still working,” he added.

But that’s the thing with these bands, they never really rest. Eventually this starts to catch up with them: “At some point, it starts to affect the band, especially the creativity,” he admitted. Honestly, I’m surprised they haven’t all spontaneously combusted from exhaustion by now.

The Post Human series is also no joke too. It is not just about making music anymore—it’s become this whole Lord of the Rings level story. “The records need to be clear and separate,” he said. “Otherwise, they’ll just bleed into each other.” NeX GEn sounds totally different from Survival Horror, and Sykes wants the next album to feel like an entirely new era. So, no pressure, lads.

As for chapter three of Post Human? Don’t hold your breath. “We’ve got ideas, but the third one doesn’t actually exist yet,” Sykes said. So, they’ve got the concept but no actual music. Nice. “I’ve been going flat-out for the last few years,” he added. “I’m not rushing it.” Translation: Don’t expect to hear new tunes anytime soon.

Sykes suggested 2026 as a possible release date for the next album, but he wasn’t exactly sure. “It could be a bit longer than that,” he said. So yeah, whilst no firm promises have been made, the good news is you will still see plenty of Bring Me the Horizon in 2025. They’re locked in for some major festival slots, including Germany’s Rock Am Ring and the UK’s Reading and Leeds Festival. So, while we might be waiting a while for new music, you’ll at least get some killer live shows in the meantime.
