Jamie Campbell Bower Used Sleep Token To Prepare For ‘The Rings Of Power’

Jamie Campbell Bower had Sleep Token’s ‘Euclid’ on repeat while preparing to play Celeborn in the third season of The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power.

Speaking during an IMDb cast interview, the Stranger Things actor explained that the song’s references to nature helped him find his way into the character of Galadriel’s long-lost husband.

“I listened to Euclid by Sleep Token a lot,” Bower said, via Metal Hammer. “Lyrically, there’s so much beauty in it.”

He singled out its references to trees before adding: “It just felt very, very Celeborn.” The song closes Sleep Token’s 2023 album Take Me Back To Eden, and it has become a recurring presence in Bower’s own work.

Last February, he shared his own cover on YouTube, only to delete it an hour later. Speaking to Rolling Stone UK later that year, he explained that he had second thoughts about releasing his version of a song that meant so much to him, before uploading it again the following day.

“That song moved me, it hit me like a train,” he told the magazine. Bower said he had worried about overstepping as a fan, but Sleep Token subsequently sent him an approving Instagram message.

Bower’s music career has run alongside his acting work for years. He fronted Counterfeit between 2015 and 2020, releasing their debut album Together We Are Stronger in 2017, before moving into solo material and launching BloodMagic with ‘Death / Rebirth’ in 2024.

His use of music to prepare for a role also predates Celeborn. In that Rolling Stone UK interview, Bower described listening to progressively harder and faster music during his makeup sessions as Vecna, building towards the moment he stepped onto the Stranger Things set.

As Celeborn, he joins Morfydd Clark’s Galadriel in a season set five years after the fall of Eregion, with Sauron pursuing the One Ring.

The Rings Of Power season three premieres on Prime Video on Wednesday, November 11th, with four episodes arriving together. Two more follow on November 18th, ahead of the final pair on November 25th.
