Joel Birch has copped more than a bruised ego on The Amity Affliction’s current US run, he’s broken his damn foot.
The vocalist revealed the injury on Instagram, sharing pictures of the damage alongside a characteristically blunt update:
‘Two broken bones in my left foot. I won’t be able to move around, but we’ll still be at every show on the Summer of Loud tour, and happily so. It’s going to be tough to come to grips with not being able to do anything for the next 4-6 weeks, but it could be worse. Surrounded by friends and support, thankful that we’re here.’

That show happened to be part of the Summer of Loud tour, a loaded line up with Amity sharing the stage with Beartooth, I Prevail, Parkway Drive and many more across North America.
Birch hasn’t offered much more detail on how the break happened, but the band’s decision to keep performing says plenty. He will no doubt power through, at times possibly seated because he’s tough like that. Anyone familiar with The Amity Affliction’s energy knows they’re not about to let a busted bone kill the mood.
This isn’t the first time the band has faced tour chaos (shoutout to 2022’s cancelled Australian leg), but true to form, they’re bulldozing through adversity with pure grit.
