Anyone with an ear to the ground in the alt scene should know the name KennyHoopla. His songs boast millions of views on Spotify, with little artificial fanfare behind him; he’s the real deal, and if you listen to his music, you know it straight away. Gracing us with a new single, Kenny dropped his new track ‘hollywood sucks//’ today, a collaboration with the one and only Travis Barker of blink-182.
You can check out the apt clip for the new tune below, which sees Kenny on a casual sprint through Hollywood itself, before he rocks up to a Starlines Tour bus and belts out the song on top of it. Barker makes a cameo at his kit, a bystander to the force of nature that is KennyHoopla performing. This isn’t Kenny’s first collaboration with Barker, and it hopefully won’t be the last – at the time of collaborating on their previous single, Barker commented: “I loved Kenny’s music from the moment I heard it and showed everyone it.” Alongside working with Barker, he’s cemented his name among the new wave of artists toeing the line between captivating both mainstream audiences and the alternative community, with tour dates with contemporaries Yungblud and Machine Gun Kelly locked and loaded (pending, of course, the stability of the current pandemic situation).
The unveiling of the single coincides with the announcement of Kenny’s forthcoming mixtape, SURVIVORS GUILT: THE MIXTAPE, which is set to drop next month on June 11th. The ‘hollywood sucks//’ unveiling should be enough to tide us over until then, but if you’re after some further reading, we would recommend continuing your introduction lesson to Kenny with his how will I rest in peace if i’m buried by a highway? EP and his groundbreaking single also featuring Travis Barker, ‘estella//’.
