Kevin Nash Admits He Once Threw A Korn CD Out The Car Window, Then Changed His Mind

Not every iconic band lands on first listen, and Kevin Nash is living proof.

Two time WWE Hall Of Famer Kevin Nash has revealed that his first encounter with Korn’s music ended dramatically, with the retired wrestling star literally throwing their CD out of his car window after less than a minute of listening.

Speaking on his Kliq This podcast, Nash reflected on how obsessive he’s always been about music discovery, especially during the peak CD era (Per The PRP):

“You know, I was always, to this day, when music came out, I would go to either Best Buys or Circuit City, and I would just — because I was making coin — like when the new CDs dropped, I’d buy 12 or 14 CDs. I’d buy what whatever was out because I was going on the road.”

Bad timing for Korn

One of those purchases came after repeated recommendations to check out Korn, but the timing couldn’t have been worse:

“And I remember everybody was telling me about Korn. And I was driving, I was by myself, and I was in Lincoln Continental. And, you know, it was one of those deals where I was so into, like at that time of my life, I was so into like Tupac and that whole Death Row sound, that Korn was so far from my [tastes,] I listened to like 30 seconds of it, ejected it, put the window down and slung it out the window, like ‘No.’”

When co-host Sean Oliver questioned whether he actually threw the disc out, Nash doubled down, but time, and a second chance changed things

“And then two years later like, I actually on something, heard like two or three cuts, and I said, ‘Oh, I guess I should have gave it a chance.’”

Nash explained that his music taste has always bounced between genres, stretching across R&B, soul, rap and rock. These days, he says he’s spending plenty of time tuned into SiriusXM’s Lithium channel, even shouting out Soundgarden guitarist Kim Thayil and reflecting on the voice of the late Chris Cornell.

Proof that sometimes the album you reject today ends up in rotation later.
