Killing Heidi Announce 25th Anniversary ‘Reflector’ Tour

Share

Killing Heidi will hit the road this June to mark 25 years since the release of their debut album Reflector. If you can believe it’s been that long.

First released in March 2000, Reflector was a major breakthrough for the Violet Town band. Off the back of Unearthed and the success of singles like ‘Weir’ and ‘Mascara’, the album reached No.1 on the ARIA charts, stayed there for seven weeks, and picked up four ARIA Awards.

To mark the milestone, the band is reissuing Reflector in a deluxe edition with demos and rarities on vinyl and CD. More significantly, they’re heading out on a short national tour, playing the album in full.

“It was such an adventurous record for how young we were,” says Ella Hooper. “But the songs landed because they felt real to people. That’s what’s lasted.”

The tour begins in Adelaide on June 20 and runs through Perth, Brisbane, and Sydney, before wrapping up in Melbourne on June 28. Siobhan Cotchin and Hassall will support, though Hassall won’t appear at the Perth date.

Ella says the aim this time around is simple: give people a solid version of the show they may not have seen two decades ago. “We’re better players now,” she says. “We’ve got a proper lineup covering all the sounds we couldn’t quite pull off back then.”

Reflector came out at a time when homegrown rock was gaining serious traction, and for many listeners it ended up linked to key moments in their lives – leaving school, first jobs, early relationships. This tour looks to tap back into that without pretending things haven’t changed.

Tickets go on sale from 9am Thursday, March 27. Tickets can be purchased here.
