Killswitch Engage call for environmental action in powerful new ‘Aftermath’ video, teaming with global climate groups to spark change.
The newest Killswitch Engage music video rips straight from their new album This Consequence, which landed earlier this year via Metal Blade Records. If you thought the band were slowing down after more than two decades of dominance, Aftermath will shut that thought down fast.
Aftermath isn’t just a headbanger, it’s a song with teeth. Lyrically, it dives into the wreckage left behind by disaster, betrayal and loss. Frontman Jesse Leach describes it as “a call to arms” for anyone standing at rock bottom, urging listeners to rise above despair and start rebuilding.
“This song is not just a desperate song with a sense of sadness and anger…I’m urging my fellow humans to rise above the helplessness and despair. I want people to see we need to put one foot in front of the other and start to rebuild our lives. Be it from an abusive relationship, a financial hardship, a death of a loved one, or mourning yet another disaster unleashed upon the natural world.”
The accompanying video, crafted by Good Eye: Music Visuals, throws a spotlight on environmental destruction, spotlighting the urgent need for action. Killswitch Engage teamed up with organisations like Basel Action Network, Clean Water Action and Riverkeeper, using their platform to stir more than just the pit.
Here’s the visualiser for the track:
This Consequence is out now, a record built to shake foundations and remind the world that Killswitch Engage are as vital as ever.
The newest album hit hard out of the gate, spawning the Top 10 single ‘I Believe’ and reminding fans why Killswitch Engage remain one of the most enduring forces in modern metal. With gold and platinum records on the wall, three Grammy nominations, and a catalogue of tracks that have soundtracked moshpits worldwide, the band are showing zero signs of backing off.
